A snapped chain, a clasp that will not close, a loose stone or a ring worn thin after years of love: most jewellery can be brought back to life by a skilled goldsmith. At Noura’s Jewellery in Alta Vista Plaza, Ottawa, repairs are done in our own in-store workshop. We look at the whole piece, explain what it needs and what it will cost before any work begins, and treat your jewellery as carefully as if it were our own family’s.

Repaired in our own workshop
Our workshop is part of the shop. Your jewellery is not sent away to a stranger: our goldsmiths inspect it, repair it and check it at the bench, a few steps from where you handed it over.
Signs your jewellery needs attention
- A stone moves, rattles or catches on clothing.
- Prongs look flat, thin or bent.
- A clasp opens by itself or no longer clicks shut.
- A chain has a kink, a stretched link or a weak spot.
- A ring band has become thin or misshapen at the back.
Catching these early is the best way to avoid losing a stone or a piece. Our jewellery care guide explains what to look for.
- A worn or bent prong no longer grips the stone
- New metal is added to rebuild the tip
- Shaped, polished and the stone checked again
How a repair works at Noura’s
Tell us what happened
Bring the piece and any detached parts. Tell us how it broke, about earlier repairs and anything you want to protect, such as an inscription.
We inspect the whole piece
Some problems are visible; others only show when neighbouring links, prongs and settings are examined under magnification.
You hear the plan and the price first
We explain what we recommend, what it costs and how long it should take. Nothing is done without your approval.
The work is done in our workshop
With care, patience and the right tools. Most repairs are done in about 30 minutes; bigger jobs take longer and we confirm the timing first.
A final check with you
We check the repair, the stones and the finish, and hand the piece back ready to wear.

Frequently asked questions
Can my repair be done the same day?
Yes, most repairs are done in about 30 minutes while you wait. Bigger jobs, or work that needs parts, take longer, and we confirm the timing before we start. Call 613-680-8883 before you come if timing matters.
How much will my repair cost?
It depends on the piece, the metal and the work. We give you the price before we start, and if we find anything else during the repair we ask you before doing more.
Do you repair jewellery bought elsewhere?
Yes. Bring it in and we will assess it.
Can a piece be too damaged to repair?
Occasionally. When a repair is not the best option, we will say so and suggest alternatives, such as redesigning the piece with its original gold and stones.
