What to bring with your watch

Luxury watches
Original box
Papers and warranty card
Spare links
Service records
Gold watch cases

Missing papers or links do not mean you cannot sell. Bring what you have and we will look at the watch as it is.

Retail price, market price and an offer

The price of a new watch in a boutique, the asking prices you see online and an offer from a buyer are three different numbers. Online listings are asking prices, not sales, and a buyer has to account for verification, servicing and resale. We explain how we arrive at our offer so you can compare it fairly.

Tips before you sell a watch

  1. Do not polish the case. Polishing removes metal and can soften sharp edges collectors value.
  2. Do not open the case back or try to service the watch yourself.
  3. Gather everything: box, papers, spare links, receipts and service records.
  4. Note the reference number if you can find it on the papers.
  5. Consider gold watches carefully. A gold watch that no longer works still has value in its case and bracelet.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the original box and papers?

They help, but they are not required. Bring the watch and whatever documents you have.

My watch does not run. Is it still worth something?

Often, yes. A non-running watch may still have value as a watch, and a gold or platinum case and bracelet always have metal value.

Can you value my watch over the phone?

Not reliably. Condition and originality can only be checked in person. Call 613-680-8883 to plan a visit.

Would repairing it be better than selling?

Sometimes. See watch repair for batteries, straps and other common issues.
